Concurrent and ProActive Technologies L.L.C. to Deliver iHawk Systems for US E-3 SENTRY -AWACS- Trainer Upgrade Program.

ATLANTA -- Concurrent's Newest Channel Partner Leverages Concurrent RedHawk(TM) Linux(R) and Development Tools for Simulator Rehosting at Tinker Air Force Base

Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR), a leading provider of integrated computer solutions for mission-critical applications, today announced that its iHawk(TM) high-performance multiprocessor systems powered by the RedHawk(TM) Linux(R) operating system and NightStar(TM) development tools have been purchased by ProActive Technologies, L.L.C. (ProActive). The U.S. Air Force awarded ProActive a simulator upgrade contract to modernize the E-3 AWACS Maintenance Training System (MTS) Surveillance Radar Training System (SRTS) simulators at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. ProActive selected Concurrent as the real-time host simulation platform for the upgrade.

The E-3 Sentry is an airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft that provides all-weather surveillance, command, control and communications needed by U.S., NATO and other allied air defense forces. It is the premier air battle command and control aircraft in the world today. Tinker Air Force Base serves as the E-3 main operating base.

The increasing demand and degree of complexity of AWACS training scenarios requires that the current SRTS design be upgraded using new technology. The simulator upgrade program is part of the U.S. Air Force's ongoing initiative to embrace COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) products for more cost-effective simulation and training solutions. ProActive's services include rehosting the SRTS system from Windows 2000 Professional to Concurrent's RedHawk Linux v2.1, converting the Windows-based SRTS Ada83 source code to C++ code, converting/redesigning all of the Microsoft Windows-based WIN32 functions and associated APIs to a Linux-based system, and updating the 400Mhz dual processor computer system to Concurrent's iHawk dual processor system.

The iHawk is Concurrent's high-performance, PCI-based, COTS computer platform for time-critical data acquisition, simulation and industrial systems applications. At the heart of each iHawk system is Concurrent's RedHawk Linux real-time operating system. Compatible with the popular Red Hat(R) Linux distribution, RedHawk Linux features high I/O throughput, fast response to external events, and optimized interprocess communication. Concurrent's iHawk platform is used by leading aerospace and defense companies worldwide. A proven, reliable platform, the iHawk is ideal for real-world missions such as pilot flight training, weapons training, battle mission planning, driving simulation, and visual systems.

Concurrent's NightStar development tools enable software engineers to schedule, monitor, debug and analyze their real-time applications on iHawk multiprocessor systems or remotely from a desktop PC or laptop. Each tool runs on the iHawk target system in a non-intrusive manner, thus preserving the deterministic characteristics of a real-time application. NightStar tools are specifically designed to allow integrators to intelligently identify problems early in the project life cycle - and correct them faster.
