Latest MediaHawk[R] Upgrade Optimizes Content Placement for Multi-Tier Content Storage Architectures

ATLANTA -- Concurrent (Nasdaq: CCUR), a worldwide leader in real-time Linux[R]-based computing technologies, announced today the addition of tiered asset management (TAM) as part of a major software release for its MediaHawk line of streaming video servers. Developed to accommodate multi-tier storage architectures such as those deployed at the Tampa and Orlando divisions of Bright House Networks, TAM takes into account the performance characteristics of the available storage when making content placement decisions. With the introduction of high performance storage, such as solid state drives, and lower cost media, such as SATA drives, it is increasingly important for the system to prioritize placement based on the usage profile for each content asset as well as the I/O bandwidth rates for each media type.

TAM was developed as part of the ongoing partnership between Bright House Networks and Concurrent, and represents continued enhancement and support for the cable operator's Start Over deployments.

"The TAM enhancement brings a new level of efficiency to the product and allows us to proactively address customer viewing needs." Bright House Networks in Tampa is currently the largest Start Over deployment in the world, and used Concurrent's MediaHawk on-demand platform to launch the service this past January.

TAM will be available starting in first quarter of next year for all MH 4500 and MH 4000 models of Concurrent's servers upgraded with the applicable software release.
