Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR), the pioneer and market leader in commercial Video-On-Demand (VOD) deployments, is demonstrating the power of on-demand programming - from A-to-Z - over broadband networks at the Broadband Plus show Dec. 3-6 in Anaheim, Calif. Featured demonstrations include a preview of services in the evolving "everything on demand" trend and the Concurrent technology that makes it possible. All of the VOD services are based on Concurrent's MediaHawk(R) Broadband VOD solution.

Concurrent's expansive end-to-end system provides a technology foundation that supports Movies-On-Demand, subscription Video-On-Demand (SVOD), Free-On-Demand, Long Format Advertising and network-based PVR, or Concurrent's Personal Video Channel(TM) (pVC(TM)). Some of the Concurrent VOD services highlighted at Broadband Plus include:

Subscription Video ... On Demand

Visitors to Concurrent's exhibit will be able to see a sampling of the subscription VOD services that have already deployed in a rising number of cable markets by leading cable operators in North America, including the first deployment of SVOD in Columbia, S.C. with HBO On Demand, all powered by Concurrent's MediaHawk VOD solution. Focusing on consumer convenience, choice and control, Concurrent will highlight SVOD as the subscriber would experience this fully interactive on-demand service in the home. Encompassing feature films, new release films and original programming, booth visitors will have the opportunity to experience an interactive demonstration, including an interactive paid television (iptv) menu; channel line up, with the SVOD service as one of the channels; SVOD menu; and a variety of hit movie genres - all with full viewer control. Concurrent's SVOD demonstrations at Broadband Plus highlight content from leading industry content suppliers.

Long Format Advertising ... On Demand

Emphasizing the importance of flexibility and the strategic value of Concurrent's MediaHawk VOD solution and in keeping with the promise to deliver information of value to consumers, Concurrent is demonstrating its Long Format Advertising service, in trials today as part of Cox's FreeZone service in San Diego. This exciting new advertising service is successfully beginning to change advertising as we know it today and improve the subscriber's interactive viewing experience. At Broadband Plus, Concurrent will show how Advertising-On-Demand enables a viewer to have an interactive session with a commercial - at their discretion - simply by pushing a button on the remote control.

Server-based Long Format Advertising can be offered as incremental digital interactive services translating into new revenue generation for cable operators from advertisers, a competitive differentiator from Digital Broadcast Satellite services, and a means to see a return on the investments in cable operators' digital networks. Concurrent is working with several technology partners like Everstream, Navic Networks and Rainbow Media to develop these new services - and is providing a taste of what's to come in the advertising world at Broadband Plus.

Personal Video Channel (pVC) Services ... News-On-Demand

Concurrent will also be demonstrating its pVC technology, which will allow subscribers on-demand access of televised programs. With pVC, the MediaHawk records television events onto the network-based VOD system, providing subscribers with immediate access via existing digital set-top boxes, with VCR functionality. Subscribers can exit a recorded program stream to re-join a live broadcast at their convenience. Concurrent's pVC services, such as News-On-Demand, are underway today in major cable operator systems in North America.

Games ... On Demand

As part of Concurrent's strategic alliance with Thirdspace Living Limited, an international supplier of the leading video server system software and suite of advanced broadband applications, Concurrent will also show how popular interactive video games can be brought to the home via the television. Thirdspace recently announced an exclusive partnership with G-cluster, the games service and system provider. Powered by Concurrent's MediaHawk in the integrated solution, existing multiplayer video games with 3D graphics and stereo sound can now be played by households on conventional TV set-top boxes (or personal computers) with Thirdspace Open Video Client (OVC) capability. Visitors to Concurrent's exhibit at Broadband Plus will experience 3D games through the TV like never before.

Concurrent's MediaHawk Broadband VOD System is an end-to-end VOD business solution featuring the MediaHawk Video Server and MediaHawk Business Management System (BMS). The MediaHawk BMS includes a complete system for managing content, subscriber demographic information, transaction and usage analysis, billing, and order fulfillment. Concurrent's VOD technology enables subscribers to use a digital set-top box to instantly call up digital movies and other programming from a list that includes major movie titles and control their selected movie with VCR-like functionality including fast forward, pause, and rewind.
