ATLANTA & BOSTON -- Concurrent Demonstrates This Enhanced On-Demand Experience Through Gemstar-TV Guide's New i-Guide at CTAM Summit

Concurrent Computer Corporation (NASDAQ: CCUR), a worldwide leader of on-demand technology that is shaping the future of television, today announced that it is demonstrating its unique patent pending in-band streaming technology, integrated with Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc.'s (NASDAQ: GMST), IPG "i-Guide" at the CTAM Summit in Boston, Mass., July 18-20 in Hall C, table #13.

Concurrent's MediaHawk(R) 4G On-Demand Platform enables automated, in-band streaming. This distinctive technology enables full motion video to be streamed to the program guide's barker window whenever a subscriber navigates to a potential on-demand selection listed in the guide. Using Concurrent's in-band technology, cable operators won't need to produce layered video or dedicate separate broadcast channels, as required by out-of-band clients. By utilizing video within guides and at all levels of navigation, operators can enhance their subscribers' experiences and augment on-demand navigation.

Concurrent's in-band video streaming solution is tiered (the same on-demand channel can be used for each video clip), and the video appearing in the program guide barker window is automatically scaled from the video located in the content library. For example, when the subscriber chooses the MSO's dedicated on-demand channel, a "how-to" video may appear in the barker window. As the subscriber travels through the program guide, the barker window automatically changes to a full motion video preview when the subscriber navigates within the guide. Because Concurrent's in-band solution accesses existing content already on the server and automatically scales that existing content to fit the barker window, operators can efficiently and cost effectively stream more promotional video to guides than ever before. This approach minimizes the MSO investment of time and money for additional video production and eliminates the need for any additional dedicated on-demand channels. This technology, unique to Concurrent, maximizes the operator's ability to use more video to sell more video and enhance on-demand navigation. While Concurrent has been able to provide tiered navigation for years, resulting in graphically rich backgrounds, the latest patent pending enhancements allow full motion video to be intermixed with such backgrounds.

As previously demonstrated earlier this year at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) show, Concurrent's 4G MediaHawk technology, integrated with TV Guide's i-Guide IPG, supports new, advanced on-demand features including icons for a visual indication of program features, such as high definition, closed caption or wide screen or to highlight content as "New" or "Last Chance"; barker window consistency; display of "deactivation" dates and short title descriptions, aiding customers in making decisions regarding title and viewing choices; and VOD ad launch for interactive advertising functionality. Complementing Concurrent's multi-media rich on-demand platform, the in-band software technology supports the automated barker promotions with full motion video. The solution is currently undergoing certification and initial implementation of this capability will be available this fall.

Concurrent teams with TV Guide and Starz On Demand to demonstrate enhanced on-demand functionality at the CTAM Summit. Through Starz On Demand branded menus, the demonstration will show how Concurrent technology, integrated with TV Guide's i-Guide, provides more branding opportunities, increases content visibility and enriches on-demand navigation.
