Two Industry Leaders Merge Technologies to Bring Video-On-Demand

to Largest Installed Base of Digital Cable Customers

Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR) and Gemstar - TV Guide International (Nasdaq:GMST) announced today that they have completed integration of the TV Guide Interactive Video-On-Demand Guide with Concurrent's MediaHawk(TM) Video-On-Demand (VOD) System, introducing a new VOD solution to the cable industry. Concurrent's integration is with TV Guide Interactive's latest VOD Guide, which offers enhancements over previous versions including scalability and support for Subscription VOD (SVOD). The fully certified application is available today to cable operators and trial deployments are beginning with select Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. systems and in other markets.

TV Guide Interactive is the most widely distributed interactive program guide (IPG) for digital cable in North America. Concurrent's MediaHawk VOD System supports the industry's largest base of commercially deployed VOD systems, serving multiple MSOs with over 1.4 million digital cable subscribers.

The TV Guide Interactive VOD Guide is integrated into the core IPG service with VOD access from the Main Menu via an on-screen "button." TV Guide Interactive's VOD Guide offers a user-friendly environment for cable operators to showcase their VOD services with co-branding and customizable menus.

Within the familiar TV Guide Interactive environment, digital subscribers can order and preview VOD movies with the touch of a button, then play, fast-forward, rewind, pause, and resume play of their selection using the remote. The VOD Guide also offers Parental and Purchase Control features.

Concurrent's MediaHawk VOD System is a comprehensive end-to-end solution, including integrated hardware and software. A primary component of the system is the MediaHawk Video Server, which is a high-performance, scalable, digital video server that supports MPEG1 or MPEG2 digital video streams on HFC, DSL, and IP-based transport networks. Another component of the system, the MediaHawk Business Management System (BMS), provides a comprehensive system for operations and business management.
