Concurrent Computer Corporation Joins Alcatel and Oracle as Shareholders in Thirdspace to Provide Video Over DSL Worldwide.

Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR), the pioneer and market leader in Video-On-Demand (VOD) commercial deployments in North America, has entered into a strategic alliance with Thirdspace Living Limited, an international supplier of the leading video server system software and suite of advanced broadband applications. In addition, Concurrent has joined Alcatel (Paris:CGEP.PA) (NYSE:ALA), the world's leading provider of DSL infrastructure and Oracle (Nasdaq:ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, as shareholders in Thirdspace Living Limited.

Based in London, Thirdspace combines video server software expertise and a suite of advanced broadband applications. Thirdspace capitalizes on its knowledge base by providing integration services in addition to video system software. The combined Thirdspace offering enables DSL service providers to deliver TV and video services over their existing copper.

In addition to entering into the strategic alliance, Concurrent has also made a strategic investment in Thirdspace, as has Alcatel, further strengthening the business relationship between the companies. As part of the strategic alliance and equity purchase, Concurrent and Alcatel have together invested a total of $16 million in a second round of funding for Thirdspace. As part of the investment, Thirdspace has licensed its patent and patent application portfolio - currently, 13 patented technologies and 15 patents pending - to Concurrent.

In the strategic alliance, Concurrent and Thirdspace will jointly develop and market an integrated end-to-end solution to enable broadband telecommunications carriers to provide broadcast television, interactive television (iTV), and VOD services to the rapidly growing number of subscribers on digital subscriber line (DSL) transport networks. The comprehensive solution will integrate Concurrent's industry-leading MediaHawk(R) Video Server with Thirdspace's OVS Open Video Server Software (formerly Oracle Video Server) and Thirdspace Application Server (tAS) Software. When the integrated end-to-end video system solution is offered to, and prepared for, Alcatel's vast installed market footprint, Concurrent and Thirdspace will have immediate access to the largest installed base of DSL subscribers worldwide.
