Concurrent Computer Corporation Introduces ROMable PowerMAX OS; Leading Supplier of Real-Time Solutions Expands Its Applications to Embedded Systems.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1998--Concurrent Computer Corporation (Nasdaq:CCUR) announced today that a new ROMable capability has been added to its real-time operating system, PowerMAX OS(tm). Concurrent is widely recognized for the quality, breadth, and cost-effectiveness of its real-time productivity tools, and the ROMable features of its real-time operating system positions Concurrent to become a major force in the embedded systems market. Embedded systems are crucial components of many telecommunications, medical, electronic, and aircraft equipment applications.

The new ROMable PowerWorks(tm) Development Environment, which is now shipping, starts at $11,725 for a single user. Runtime licenses start at under $1,000 per copy. Concurrent's ROMable PowerMAX OS offers an embedded, disk-free UNIX(R)-SVR4 based operating system that is configured to perform all computer-critical timing tasks. Designed for use in systems that don't need a disk, ROMable PowerMAX OS can be used in applications which must physically occupy as little space as possible, such as telecommunication devices and automotive navigation systems; embedded environments, such as electronic and medical imaging equipment; and in high-stress or high-vibration environments such as aircraft.

A scalable, industry-standard real-time UNIX-based operating system, ROMable PowerMAX OS uses compression techniques to take full advantage of flash memory capabilities. ROMable PowerMAX OS also features high input/output (I/O) throughput, fast response, efficient interprocess communication and supports symmetric multiprocessing. ROMable PowerMAX OS is a logical extension to Concurrent's well-respected family of real-time products.
