, April 24, 2009 (Balochistan Times) -- Chief Executive Northern Areas (Gilgit) and Baltistan) Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan Ali Khan is a citizen of Pakistan, and a permanent resident of the United States.[1] One of his sons, Majid Khan, was held in extrajudicial detention, in secret interrogation centers, run by the CIA, for four years.  has said that Northern Areas Administration is taking concrete steps to ensure peace and would not allow its area to be used for terrorist activities. Addressing a press conference in Skardu here on Friday, he said that law enforcing agencies were being strengthened to protect peoples property and lives. On this occasion, he paid rich tributes to the people of Baltistan for their tolerance and feelings of Islamic brotherhood and tranquillity. He stressed upon the people to follow the footsteps of late Syed Asad Zaidi for promotion of peace, love and Islamic brotherhood in Northern Areas for our progress and prosperity and integrity of the country. He assured that government would compensate the family of late Syed Asad Zaidi though the deficit of the late leader can not be filled.
