Concourse Communications Announces WiFi Phone Service Trial at Airports; Newark Liberty is Initial Site, JFK and LaGuardia to Follow.

According to the terms of the agreement, the WiFi phone service will use Concourse's WiFi network to connect Concourse customers to the telecom company's platform. Calls will be routed via their Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network and terminated on their worldwide telecommunications network and infrastructure. The trial is scheduled to begin this month.

The deployment at Newark Liberty Airport will allow WiFi calls to be placed via a range of communications devices. Participants in the test will be able to make calls with wireless VoIP handsets, and laptops or Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) equipped with special client software referred to as a Softphone.
