Concordia Offers Pre-Nursing Program Beginning Fall 2006.ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- In response to the increasing shortage of health care professionals, Concordia University - Ann Arbor (CUAA CUAA Concordia University Ann Arbor (Ann Arbor, Michigan) CUAA Committee on Un-American Activities (US) CUAA Canadian University Athletic Association ) will begin offering pre-nursing and a liberal arts health education minor through their health education and life sciences (HEALS) initiative beginning Fall 2006, with a health science major projected for Jan. 2007. "The underlying goal of the HEALS initiative is to create programs that draw upon and foster relationships between the Health Sciences, as traditionally understood, and many other academic disciplines such as Education, Family Life, Social Sciences, and the Arts," said Vice President of Academics Dr. Mark Looker. The new program will introduce students to basic concepts of personal health, multi-disciplinary thinking, the health professions, and general health care. The pre-nursing track will lead students to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four year academic degree in the science and principles of nursing, granted by a tertiary education university or similarly accredited school. (BSN BSN abbr. Bachelor of Science in Nursing ), which CUAA is currently researching with a projected program start date of Fall 2008. An advisory committee of health care professionals is developing all aspects of the future program, from selecting curriculum to obtaining possible clinical sites with St. Joseph Mercy Hospital
