Concord Law School Graduates Spring 2007 Class.

LOS ANGELES -- Concord Law School celebrated its eighth graduation and largest graduating class on Saturday, March 3rd in Los Angeles at the Skirball Cultural Center. The 115 person class included 41 graduates who earned their Executive Juris Doctor degree and 74 graduates of the Juris Doctor program. Concord President and Dean Barry Currier awarded the diplomas to the 60 graduates who participated in the ceremony.

The graduation speaker was Dean Joseph D. Harbaugh of Nova Southeastern University Law Center. In addition to his leadership in the legal academic community, Dean Harbaugh is a long-time champion of the use of technology in legal education - including teaching online courses himself.

Nearly half of the graduates entered Concord with one or more graduate degrees including 6 PhDs, 7 MDs, 17 MBAs, 20 Masters, and one DDS. There are also many fascinating personal stories in this Winter 07 graduating class including:

* An inventor with over 30 patents to his name

* The 2004 World Champion of Public Speaking (awarded by Toastmasters International) who also holds a PhD in Education

* A marine pilot and teacher with a U.S. Captain's License titled "Master Marine of Ocean Steam and Motor Vessels of Any Gross Tons"

* A woman who has competed in more than 50 marathons and is CEO of her own consulting business

Following the graduation ceremony, Judge Dana Senit Henry, a retired California Supreme Court judge, administered the oath of admission to 2 Concord graduates.

A physician in a rural area, who is the only doctor in her specialty for 100 miles, wrote the following in her application to Concord: "I hope the knowledge and expertise that I gain will help both my colleagues and the people whom we provide care for. The country is on the brink of making major changes in the field of healthcare O and it is my opinion that doctors are poorly equipped to deal with or help formulate policies where legal aspects are concerned." Many of the graduates in this class (and Concord students in general) come to Concord with this type of motivation. They plan to use their legal education to the benefit of the field, business, or community in which they currently work.
