The PCA is a software-only product, which requires no hardware other than a voice/fax/data modem. The server version will allow users to connect directly to their own company servers via modem, access Internet and intranet e-mails, and listen to them from any phone, anywhere in the world.

The PCA can be easily configured to access e-mails by phone, listen to them and control the PCA's response through pre-defined voice commands. E-mail security is provided by a password security system that allows the PCA to verify the user's identity through a user-selected voice password, and will only respond to the individual user's voice commands and responses. The PCA can read or bypass individual e-mail messages as instructed by voice commands.

The new server version of the PCA targets a vast new commercial market for the corporate and business world, where employees travel frequently and experience difficulty gaining remote access to e-mail servers. It will also appeal to organizations with search engines such as Yahoo and AOL (A division of Time Warner, Inc., New York, NY, www.aol.com) The world's largest online information service with access to the Internet, e-mail, chat rooms and a variety of databases and services. , which are looking to add unique capabilities.

Users will require nothing more than any standard touch tone phone to access their business server and listen to their e-mail, just as they do with their voicemail. No external hardware is required by the user, nor is there a service charge made to the company. The PCA server software will be licensed directly to companies or any organization supporting Windows servers See Windows Server 2003, Windows Home Server, Windows 2000 and Windows NT. . No additional fees will be charged and the company or organization can assure security of user e-mail service See Internet e-mail service. .

Users will not require cell phone adapters, nor will they have to count on a service to handle their text-to-speech e-mail communications. The security of their own PC or company or organization server will provide a secure and cost-effective method of accessing e-mail without connecting to a service or logging on with their laptop, Palm Pilot, or other external device.

"The cost benefits to the company will be enormous," said Kahn. "Now you can check your e-mail in essentially the same way as you access your voicemail. In fact, it is easier to learn to set up your PCA e-mail service than it is to set up your voicemail."

Other product features and announcements are planned over the next 90 days that will expand the versatility of the PCA and bring added functions of fax and voice to the server market.

Concierge was founded by Kahn to design, market and support a new class of unified messaging Having access to e-mail, voice mail and faxes via a common computer application or by telephone. For example, unified messaging may send faxes and digitized voice mail to a mail server that turns them into e-mail attachments.  products. These products integrate voice technology and pioneering software as a solution to the remote access needs of Internet e-mail, fax and voicemail users.

The company is preparing to introduce a software package (the Personal Communications Attendant, or PCA) that will enable Internet e-mail users to have e-mail, received on their personal computers, read to them over any telephone as instructed by the user's voice commands. This product is expected to be introduced into the personal communications market in 30 days. Concierge plans continuing enhancements to the core product (PCA), including foreign-language versions, and has additional unique products under development.
