Concert frame relay service expands to 31 countries; MCI and BT sign on their 500th customer to the service.


RYE BROOK, NY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 1995--MCI announced today that Concert Frame Relay A high-speed packet switching protocol used in wide area networks (WANs). Providing a granular service of up to DS3 speed (45 Mbps), it has become popular for LAN to LAN connections across remote distances, and services are offered by most major carriers.  Service, an advanced, high-bandwidth data service, is now available in Colombia, Indonesia, Israel, Taiwan and Venezuela, bringing to 31 the number of countries in which the service is available. Due to the increasing size of the Concert network, the service is believed to have the widest reach in the marketplace today, with direct coverage to and from more than 500 cities.

BT, MCI's alliance partner, announced today that the Mediterranean Shipping Company has become the 500th customer for the Concert Frame Relay Service.
