In the Center of the Country, Kansas City Station Cites Specialized Service and Location for its Success

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. -- Concert Group Logistics (CGL), a Downers Grove, Illinois-based leader in transportation logistics, opened another station in Kansas City in December 2006 with Jim Fornelli at the helm as station owner. The Kansas City operation brings CGL's total number of stations up to 23 in the United States, all of which are equipped to handle world-wide transport.

Kansas City's Fornelli has been in the business for more than 10 years on both the buy and sell sides of logistics. He believes that knowledge will help him succeed in this position. "I understand what a purchase manager is looking for and I've tackled many of the same obstacles so I can anticipate what will make for a good solution."

In fact, he's identified and started promoting one of the station's strengths - expedited services like same day delivery and deliveries requiring special handling. "I think what is really going to set us apart here in Kansas City is our customer support. We are hands-down better equipped to offer quick and personalized service."

Fornelli also attributed his location to the strength of his business plan. "Being in the heart of the country has its advantages. We are centrally located inside the highway system which makes us a sweet spot for trucking but also for support to our other offices."
