Concerned parents urge councillors not to shut primary.PARENTS protested against plans to close their children's primary school. But the plan would see St Luke's closing. Mrs Pugsley said: "The school could easily be converted to take children aged five to 11. No-one has given us a valid reason why this isn't an option." Kirklees also wants to develop a primary school for 210 children in Hightown - at the site of either Hightown School or RM Grylls Community Middle School.. Council officers have also proposed building a primary school on the site of Birkenshaw First and Nursery. Parents have been asked to decide whether a second primary school in the area should be developed at East Bierley School or Birkenshaw Middle School. Cabinet approved the plan and consultation will now run from June 8 to July 3, with a final decision in September.. |
