SAN ANTONIO -- Conceptual MindWorks, Inc. (CMI) will host Dr. Kary Banks Mullis, an American biochemist and Nobel Laureate, at a Technical Exchange Luncheon at CMI corporate offices in San Antonio on July 10th.

During the private half-day session, Dr. Mullis and CMI scientists will discuss the future of using selected CMI Patented Technologies in DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.

Dr. Mullis was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry The Nobel Prize in Chemistry (Swedish: Nobelpriset i kemi) is awarded once a year by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. It is one of the six Nobel Prizes. The first prize was awarded in 1901.  in 1993 for his development of the Polymerase Chain Reaction polymerase chain reaction (pŏl`ĭmərās') (PCR), laboratory process in which a particular DNA segment from a mixture of DNA chains is rapidly replicated, producing a large, readily analyzed sample of a piece of DNA; the process is  (PCR PCR polymerase chain reaction.

), a central technique in biochemistry and molecular biology which allows the amplification of specific DNA sequences. Dr Mullis subsequently was awarded the Japan Prize that same year.
