Conan Doyle vs barbarians.

Conan Doyle had Undershaw built high in the Downs at Hindhead, Surrey in 1896 when his wife, Louisa, was diagnosed with tuberculosis tuberculosis (TB), contagious, wasting disease caused by any of several mycobacteria. The most common form of the disease is tuberculosis of the lungs (pulmonary consumption, or phthisis), but the intestines, bones and joints, the skin, and the genitourinary, , hoping that the local climate would aid her recovery.

He lived there until her death and moved in 1906 to a new property with his second wife.

Conan Doyle's other homes have all either been destroyed or converted.
