ConSentry Enables Best-of-Breed LAN Security with Cisco, Microsoft and Trusted Computing Group Security Initiatives; Announces Unveiling of LAN Control Alliance Program.

MILPITAS, Calif. -- Demonstrating its commitment to taking a vendor-neutral stance to enforcing compliance with enterprise security policies, ConSentry Networks today announced its LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  Control Alliance Program (LCAP LCAP London Coalition Against Poverty

ConSentry, a leading provider of secure networking solutions for LANs, is ensuring customers have the freedom to choose leading security solutions by initially integrating its SLC with Cisco Systems “Cisco” redirects here. The term is taken from the field of trusted systems and has a specialized meaning.  Group's Trusted Network Connect Trusted Network Connect or TNC is an open architecture for Network Access Control, promulgated by the Trusted Network Connect Work Group (TNC-WG) of the Trusted Computing Group (TCG).  specification. "There is a tremendous amount of confusion in the market about how best to go about deploying endpoint security, identity-based network control, and security policy compliance," said David Passmore, Research Director with Burton Group. "Part of the problem is the incredible fragmentation in the security market. The other problem is a wide range of security vendors chasing enterprise buyers and influencers, often times from distinct desktop or network infrastructure 'camps,' that pull together their own product lines that may not work as well as 'best of breed' multi-vendor deployments. That's why it's essential for the security industry to ensure that endpoint security and secure network infrastructure solutions will work well together."

Jumpstarting its LAN Control Alliance Program, ConSentry has joined Cisco's NAC program, an industry initiative designed to prevent malicious attacks using network infrastructure to enforce security policy compliance on devices attempting to access enterprise networks. ConSentry's SLC integrates with the Cisco Trust Agent (CTA An abbreviation for cum testamento annexo, Latin for "with the will annexed." ) to incorporate granular host posture detail from NAC-compliant end-point agents prior to allowing network access. Based on the outcome of the host posture assessment, the Secure LAN Controller grants the appropriate level of LAN access and provides further on-going analysis of end-user network activity up to the application level. This provides the highest level of identity-based networking and control available today.

ConSentry has also joined Microsoft's NAP program, a comprehensive platform infrastructure that allows system administrators to monitor and control computer access to corporate networks based on compliance to health policy as well as update non-compliant computers. ConSentry is integrating its SLC with Microsoft's Network Access Protection architecture in order to ensure end users comply with corporate health and security policies before being allowed access to an enterprise LAN and authorized resources. The SLC can quarantine end users that do not have valid Statement of health (SoH) credentials by isolating them to a restricted network for remediation. In addition, the SLC can restrict user access to only those applications requiring remediation, thereby delivering a second level of control to the quarantine process.

As a member of the Trusted Computing Group See TCG. , an industry standards body formed to develop and promote standards for trusted computing and security technologies, ConSentry is supporting the Trusted Network Connect architecture with the SLC. ConSentry is extending its innovative network access, identity-based networking control and malware containment capabilities to enforce TNC-compliant end point posture checks that determine the security and compliance of clients that attempt to connect to an enterprise LAN.

to access an enterprise LAN, ConSentry's Secure LAN Controller (SLC) products enforce roles-based policies to thwart unauthorized access to enterprise LAN resources. In addition, these simple-to-deploy and manage systems effectively contain the spread of Malware in real-time. Operating as an in-line, "snap-in" device, the SLC leverages existing network infrastructure and identity management systems to significantly augment and preserve previous security investments.

"A key driver of our LAN Control Alliance Program is to establish ConSentry as the 'Switzerland' of secure networking solutions for LANs," said Faizel Lakhani, vice president of marketing with ConSentry Networks. "It's inevitable that enterprises are going to insist on adopting best-of-class security technologies that can interoperate because they refuse to be locked into single vendor technologies. We're putting a significant stake in the ground in support of this trend by simultaneously supporting three of the industry's most compelling security initiatives, only a month after the launch of our SLC product line."
