ConAgra Foods Inc., Omaha, Neb., completes the sale of its fresh
beef and pork operations to a venture led by Hicks, Muse, Tate &
Furst Inc. and Booth Creek Management Corp., Dallas, for $1.4 billion.
In a press release, ConAgra said the deal is part of its long-term
strategy to focus on branded food products, but it will maintain a
relationship with the sold business, which will continue to provide meat
used in other ConAgra businesses.
