"CCX and CWX have helped Westinghouse maintain its high transportation and distribution standards by providing consistent, quality LTL LTL - Linear Temporal Logic service," said Jeff Neubert, director of transportation and logistics for Westinghouse. "We presented the two carriers with our highest quality service award for providing excellent regional trucking service that benefits not only our operations but also our customers and suppliers." This is the sixth year Westinghouse has presented quality achievement awards to its best-performing LTL carriers. The recognition program is managed by the Westinghouse Traffic Council, comprised of 37 traffic managers and other front-line shipping team members from Westinghouse who interact with the company's 17 core carriers on a day-to-day basis. Westinghouse's quality index measurement program is a component of the company's total quality management program. The program measures the carriers in four specific categories: "service," accounting for shipments delivered on-time; "claims," measuring percent and number of damage-free deliveries; "invoicing," accounting for accurate freight billing; and "internal surveys," which Westinghouse traffic managers compile to rate the carrier's overall quality of service. Carriers must receive a minimum score of 97 percent to be considered for the award. For their outstanding quality of service, CCX scored a rating of 98.4 percent and CWX scored 97.9 percent. During an awards presentation at Westinghouse Electric Corp.'s headquarters in Pittsburgh, CCX and CWX were awarded commemorative plaques A commemorative plaque, or simply plaque, is a plate of metal, ceramic, stone, wood, or other material, typically attached to a wall, stone, or other vertical surface, and bearing text in memory of an important figure or event. for attaining Gold level Quality status. CWX and CCX were two of five LTL carriers that received the 1994 Gold Level Quality Award out of 17 carriers considered. "Quality means performing the job that you're hired to do and doing it right the first time," commented Neubert. "Westinghouse has diverse shipping needs throughout the country and Con-Way's regional carriers have allowed us to blanket the U.S., fulfilling our nationwide logistics goals of delivering freight to our customers and suppliers damage-free and on-time."
