The award allows Con-Way to display the distinctive NetGuide Gold Award logo on its Web site, signifying Signifyin' (slang) is an African-American rhetorical device featuring indirect communication or persuasion and the creating of new meanings for old words and signs. "In our business, the responsive, on-time delivery of accurate information is today as important as the on-time and damage-free delivery of the freight. The Internet holds much promise as an effective media for simplifying the process of electronic information and communications exchange as we move forward."

The company recently completed an extensive survey of its customers to gauge interest and capability in Internet-based services. The survey gave shippers a chance to identify and rank those features thought to be most desired for enhanced productivity, better shipper/carrier communications and customer service, and improved supply or distribution cycle management.

The Con-Ways were an early adopter of the Internet, launching its Web site in July 1995. Since that time, the company has continued to refine and improve its site, with updates and new features added regularly.

The company recently launched its second Web site, creating a specific Internet presence for its newest subsidiary, Con-Way NOW, which provides time-certain expedited delivery for urgent or emergency shipments.

Located at www.con-waynow.com, the Web site addresses the specific needs of the expedited marketplace -- and Con-Way NOW's unique abilities in this arena -- which places high premium on fast, error-free transportation for time-critical products. NOW offers dedicated, exclusive-use ground-based transportation in a network providing absolute service with guaranteed time-certain deadlines.
