Con Edison Solutions Announces Suite of Energy Resource Management Services for Businesses.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 1998--Con Edison Solutions, the competitive energy services and supply subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc. (Con Edison), announced a suite of services that will help businesses compete more effectively by managing their energy resources. Marketed as the Total Energy Resource Management (TERM) program, these services are being offered to companies throughout the United States.

In New York City and Westchester County, N.Y., the TERM services will be a part of Con Edison Solutions' offering to businesses during Phase II of Consolidated Edison's deregulation program, Retail Choice, which begins in April, and will be available on an ongoing basis. Retail Choice allows business and residential customers to select an alternative energy supplier to Con Edison.

Mr. Boyd noted that Con Edison Solutions has already begun to work with initial customers, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and a number of hotels and restaurants, that have implemented selected TERM services. "These customers have seen significant benefits, sometimes within months of implementation," said Mr. Boyd.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Care Center (MSK) has taken advantage of the services offered by Con Edison Solutions. "By replacing lighting systems we were able to improve the brightness in our facility and better manage our costs," said Edward Mahoney, director of facilities for the hospital. "MSK is continuing to work with Con Edison Solutions to better manage our energy resources and key building systems," he added.

The TERM program is comprised of services that help businesses create environments that are welcoming and safe for customers, establish a consistent image over multiple locations, use available technologies to manage costs and optimize efficiency and maintain a consistent environment that supports employee productivity. Through these services, Con Edison Solutions professionals evaluate the energy needs, usage patterns, infrastructure and equipment of a business on a site-specific basis, leading to recommendations that can help manage energy costs and improve the energy environment.
