Comverse Infosys' Loronix Division Selected For Mobile Security Systems For Public Transportation; Valley Transportation Authority Awards Contract.

(NASDAQ: CMVT) and a leading global provider of intelligent digital voice, video and data recording and content management applications for the security, surveillance, law enforcement and contact center markets announced today that its' Loronix division has been awarded a contract from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) of San Jose, CA to install Loronix Mobile Video Security Systems.

The contract, including funding from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), provides for the implementation of the Mobile Security Systems on up to 630 light rail vehicles and buses throughout the Santa Clara County area. The initial phase, valued at $1.8 million, is scheduled to begin this year.

Making public transportation safer and more secure for riders and reducing exposure of municipalities to liabilities is a goal shared by many. With the Loronix system in place, unique features such as video marking, whereby a driver can flag an incident on video by pressing an alarm button, can help transportation agencies overcome costly insurance liabilities. With this, transportation providers could curb the incidents of vandalism and other unlawful activities and help prevent unauthorized access to the vehicles upon entering the depot areas. During the testing phase of the Loronix system on VTA vehicles, over 200 arrests were made for vandalism alone.

After a testing period, Loronix was awarded the contract based on performance, unique functionality and the capability to authenticate video for court purposes. Using digital video as evidence in a courtroom requires that the video be proven unaltered. Because the system also provides audio feedback with the video, the system can aid law enforcement by providing additional evidence of how incidents occurred.
