This solution relies on Comverse's family of next-generation multi-access routers, the compact eXa.Flow and the carrier-grade Mega.Flow, both based on the patent-pending RT-PACE core technology.

The traditional implementation of mobile Internet is a software-based proxy gateway that is placed at the premises of the wireless operator and translates messages into Internet protocol.

The inherent problem of this implementation lies in its inability to provide end-to-end secure transmission, as required by banking, corporate, and m-commerce applications.

Whenever the user creates a session to a secure Web server (1) A server on the Web that supports one or more of the major security protocols such as SSL, SHTTP and PCT. This means that order form data from your browser is encrypted before being sent (uploaded) to the Web site, making it extremely difficult for a third party to decipher  at the bank or enterprise, his secured transactions Business dealings that grant a creditor a right in property owned or held by a debtor to assure the payment of a debt or the performance of some obligation.

WTLS is based upon its TCP/IP counterpart, Secure Sockets Layer. ), are exposed at the operator's proxy, prior to being transmitted to the secured server.

This major security issue has been keeping banks and enterprises from migrating their existing Internet/intranet services into mobile services. With this limiting factor, the success of mobile Internet for these purposes was uncertain.

Comverse is now changing the perception of wireless Internet security by using its multi-access compliant routers. With Comverse's multi-access router at the operator's premises equipped with the unique re-routing capability, secure multi-access transactions are routed directly into a subordinate multi-access proxy, located within the secured network of the bank or enterprise. The whole process is standard-based and supports existing mobile Internet-enabled handsets.

"The use of Comverse's multi-access router provides the operator's mobile Internet subscribers with QoX (Quality of Experience) by enabling them to connect to an unlimited number of secure sites, without changing any settings in the phone, as well as by dramatically decreasing their access waiting period," said Zeev Bregman, Chief Executive Officer of Comverse. "Comverse's patent-pending RT-PACE technology implemented in its line of multi-access routers assures the highest performance possible in multi-access protocol conversion which is a key issue for implementation in next generation cellular networks, such as GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) The first high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that used the GSM technology. GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations. , EDGE, and UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) The GSM implementation of the 3G wireless phone system. Part of IMT-2000, UMTS provides service in the 2 GHz band and offers global roaming and personalized features. ."

The ability to reroute traffic enhances the mobile operators' ability to seamlessly handle additional traffic and better traffic segmentation to large organizations, application service providers (ASPs) where the re-routing extends to such criteria as destination IP address, destination port number, source IP address, destination URL URL

As an active member in the WAP forum, Comverse is committed to supporting end-to-end security according to the WAP standards, as well as the variety of WAP-enabled handsets that are already available in the market. In addition, Comverse will support additional protocols (i.e., cHTML, I-mode) and handsets.
