COMTECH TELECOMMUNICATIONS CORP. (NASDAQ: CMTL), a leading provider of telecommunications transmission products and mobile data communications services, today announced that it has been named one of the "200 Best Small Companies in America" by Forbes Magazine.

Comtech made the list for the second consecutive year even though Forbes this year raised the upper revenue limit to $600 million from $350 million due to the weakening economy that hit large-cap companies. Comtech ranked 48th overall this year, up from 131st last year, on the Forbes list which is based upon several factors including return on equity, sales and earnings per share growth measured over the past five years and the most recent four quarters.

To be considered by Forbes for its 2001 Best list, companies had to meet strict criteria of having a minimum of 5% growth in sales and earnings over each of the last five years. Comtech achieved compound average growth rates of better than 45% and 112% for sales and EPS respectively over the last 5 years.
