Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Announces Contract to Demonstrate Viability of Using Its Over-the-Horizon Microwave Modem in U.S. Military Terminals.

) announced today that its Orlando, Florida-based subsidiary, Comtech Systems, Inc., has received a contract award for $370,000 from a prime contractor to demonstrate the feasibility of using its patented state-of-the-art S-575 Adaptive Digital Troposcatter Modem to double the data rate of the U.S. Department of Defense, AN/TRC-170, Over-the-Horizon Microwave Troposcatter terminal from 4 Mbps to 8 Mbps.

Comtech will provide its equipment, engineering field support, and training to demonstrate the S-575 modem on a link between Alabama and Florida using two AN/TRC-170s setup and operated by the Alabama Air National Guard The Alabama Air National Guard is the component of the United States Air National Guard operating within the state of Alabama.
