Comtech Telecommunications Awarded a Contract for Approximately $4.0 Million for High-Power Amplifiers.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced today that its New York subsidiary, Comtech PST Corp., has been awarded a contract for approximately $4.0 million from Raytheon for the design, development and production of the Integrated Radio Frequency Assembly (IRA) used on the Enhanced Position Location Reporting System (EPLRS) radio program.

Production options, expected to be exercised within sixty (60) days, could bring the total contract value to over $6.7 million.

EPLRS provides a robust, on-the-move, high-speed, automated data exchange using a contention-free networking architecture. This guarantees speed of service to time critical users. The far-reaching capabilities of EPLRS apply to a wide variety of defense mission areas. Effective air defense demands the timely distribution of command and control, situational awareness information and exchange of air and ground track data. EPLRS is the reliable communication system selected by the Department of Defense to meet those demands. EPLRS also fulfills the requirements for collecting data from widely dispersed systems in the forward battle areas, and sending the information back to the combat force. The EPLRS network is a reliable system that automatically reconfigures itself to overcome the line of-sight microwave limitations of UHF communications as well as jamming threats.
