Comtec Transforms Telcom Kenya's Network Infrastructure with Juniper Networks Solutions; M-series Routing Platforms Needed to Support Increased Data Traffic.

Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that its new partner in Africa, Comtec, has supplied and deployed Juniper Networks Infranet-ready M20 routing platforms at JamboNet in Nairobi, Kenya. JamboNet is the Telcom Kenya Internet Gateway that serves all local Internet Service Providers (ISP) and large institutions.

The M20 routing platforms have helped Telcom Kenya overcome the reliability and scalability issues it was facing. Its previous infrastructure was designed mainly for dial-up connectivity and corporate leased line Internet services. Growth of Internet traffic in Kenya has increased at a higher pace than anticipated and the old infrastructure simply wasn't able to offer the level of service required by the Kenyan ISP market. With JamboNet as the key gateway serving the local ISPs, the need to introduce the scalable and trusted Juniper Networks solutions was evident.
