Comsys Supports Silicon Laboratories Aero(R) IIe EDGE Transceiver.

BARCELONA, Spain -- Comsys Communication and Signal Processing See DSP.  Ltd., a leader in wireless baseband solutions for emerging wireless technologies, announced today digital baseband support for Silicon Laboratories Inc. industry leading Aero(R) IIe EDGE transceiver.

Silicon Laboratories' Aero IIe transceiver offers the highest level of integration coupled with the highest level of performance in a single-chip CMOS IC CMOS IC Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor Integrated Circuit , supporting EDGE/GPRS/GSM up to class 12. By working together, Comsys was able to assist in ensuring Aero IIe compatibility with a variety of basebands. This valuable collaboration makes it even easier for handset makers to quickly design EDGE handsets.

Since EDGE uses existing available spectrum, GPRS/GSM operators can use it to offer 3G services. EDGE has been shown to deliver higher ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) A calculation often used to determine the overall value of an application. It is also used to rate particular customers, especially in the wireless space, by comparing someone's account to the overall average.  than GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) The first high-speed digital data service provided by cellular carriers that used the GSM technology. GPRS added a packet-switched channel to GSM, which uses dedicated, circuit-switched channels for voice conversations. . More than 116 operators in 70 countries have already deployed EDGE, representing a combined subscriber base of 206 million mobile phone users. According to according to
