Comsys Announces ComMAX(TM) Solution at 3GSM; Full Mobile WiMAX Baseband Processor.

BARCELONA, Spain -- 3GSM World Congress: Hall 2, Booth E35 - Comsys Communication and Signal Processing, a leader in wireless baseband solutions, unveils ComMAX(TM), a full Mobile WiMAX baseband processor. Targeted at terminal manufacturers, ComMAX provides a comprehensive multimode (IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, New York, www.ieee.org) A membership organization that includes engineers, scientists and students in electronics and allied fields. 802.16e) Mobile WiMAX/Cellular solution, based on a flexible architecture and offers substantial power-saving features.

The ComMAX solution has been specifically designed with a flexible architecture to support current and future WiMAX profiles, including TDD (Time Division Duplexing) A transmission method that uses only one channel for transmitting and receiving, separating them by different time slots. No guard band is used. Contrast with FDD. See also TDD/TTY.

TDD - Telecommunications Device for the Deaf
and FDD (1) Abbreviation for floppy disk drive. See floppy disk.

(2) (Frequency Division Duplexing) A transmission method that separates the transmitting and receiving channels with a guard band (some amount of spectrum that acts as a buffer or insulator).
. Optimised for low-power operation, ComMAX features an optimal software/hardware partitioning. The architecture incorporates a software-defined OFDM/A modem core, and can support WiMAX, 3GPP LTE, 802.20 and future 4G technologies. ComMAX is designed for operation as a stand-alone baseband processor or as a Mobile WiMAX co-processor in a multimode reference design. Running an advanced MAC engine with neighbour-cell management, ComMAX supports high vehicular speeds and provides optimised handover capability.

This new Mobile WiMAX baseband processor targets Handset OEMs/ODMs, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) A handheld computer for managing contacts, appointments and tasks. It typically includes a name and address database, calendar, to-do list and note taker, which are the functions in a personal information manager (see PIM).  designers and SD Card manufacturers. The processor and accompanying reference designs will be available in the market during 2007.

Elkana Ben-Sinai, Comsys CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  commented, "The ComMAX solution is our first step towards 4G. In light of the market's growing demand for mobile data applications, Mobile WiMAX will expedite 3G services delivery and provide enhanced new features. Operators are just starting to realize the benefits of WiMAX over existing Mobile data networks. ComMAX is leveraging Comsys' cellular legacy that is based on years of close interaction with world leading terminal vendors in order to jointly define a product that will accommodate their needs."
