"Many Comshare customers have been using Commander FDC/Budget for consolidation and reporting for nearly six years now," said Steven J. Tonissen, senior vice president, marketing, Comshare. "The new features allow them to reap maximum benefit from their financial information database for all their financial reporting and decision support needs. With the new Commander FDC/Budget, Comshare customers can operate all the functions of consolidation, currency-conversion, reporting, analysis, modeling, EIS and Detect and Alert on a single database."

The new Commander FDC/Budget can access data from existing financial sources including General Ledgers General Ledger

A company's accounting records. This formal ledger contains all the financial accounts and statements of a business.

Notes:
The ledger uses two columns: one records debits, the other has offsetting credits.
, etc. It also contains ''Metadata" -- data about data (schedules, line-item financial relationships, currency rates etc.). The addition of a powerful new data entry module further enhances its capabilities.

The new Commander FDC/Budget also incorporates Comshare's innovative Detect and Alert software. It allows a user to establish personalized monitors based on custom performance criteria. Software agents -- called "robots" -- inform the user when conditions occur that meet the pre-specified criteria. This allows an executive's time and effort to be directed at analyzing problems, rather than searching for them.
