and Internet/remote access, was selected to demonstrate industry interoperability at the Atlanta Networld+Interop Show, Sept. 18-20, 1996. Computone is a Silver InteropNet Contributor.

The PowerRack, which is capable of speeds up to 921.6 Kbps on all serial channels, is expandable up to 64 serial ports and can support 64 simultaneous PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) The most popular method for transporting IP packets over a serial link between the user and the ISP. Developed in 1994 by the IETF and superseding the SLIP protocol, PPP establishes the session between the user's computer and the ISP using  sessions, which is optimum for Internet Service Providers and high-end remote access applications.

The IntelliServer PowerRack will extend your corporate network to remote users worldwide. Network users can now work anywhere, and gain access to the corporate network for remote client access, multi-user host access, and remote office access. IntelliServer products provide the perfect remote access solution: high performance, scalability from 16 to 64 serial lines, full protocol and feature support, and an easy to use design.

IntelliServer PowerRack can be connected to a TCP/IP Ethernet LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. , or can be booted independently and operated as a standalone remote unit. When installed on a LAN, the IntelliServer requires no special operating system device drivers, simplifying upgrades and TCP/IP host cross-platform connectivity. Installation of the IntelliServer is menu-driven and can be completed in a few minutes.

To maintain high throughput for up to 64 physical devices, the IntelliServer integrates surface mount technology with ASIC circuitry, a high-performance RISC RISC

, 4MB RAM, 512KB ROM, and Flash PROM for non-volatile storage of configuration parameters. Built-in connectors for Ethernet are BNC (thin-net) and AUI (thick-net, twisted pair, fiber optic). IntelliServer's standard feature list includes full PPP, SLIP, and CSLIP (Compressed SLIP) A version of SLIP that compresses the data for transmission.

support, permitting IP devices to be connected over RS232 serial ports at up to 921.6Kbps! This offers an ideal solution for sites that wish to implement cost-effective remote access, Internet access, and LAN-to-LAN interconnectivity. The Computone PowerRack also supports RADIUS, RIP, and proxyarp.

Established in 1984, Computone offers the world's most extensive line of ethernet, remote access/Internet communications servers, multiport solutions for PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

Networld+Interop is the comprehensive networking event offering attendees indepth education, access to leading product vendors and live interoperability demonstrations. Launched in 1987 as Interop and merged with Networld in 1994, Networld+Interop produces events in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Paris, London, Sydney and Singapore. Networld+Interop events address the business, technical and product application issues of networking and the Internet. Attendees come to Networld+Interop, the Networking Summit, to learn practical applications for new and existing technology that will help them make critical purchasing decisions. More information can be found on Interop Online at http://www.interop.com.
