Simplified Data Management

The ViewWise 5.6 IDM systems are designed to simplify the data management process of all system data, file formats and maximize productivity. This is done through:

--Improved Security - New features leverage the existing network operating system's user & group security management. Two additional levels of data security and encryption are now provided at the page and document level.

--Greater Scalability - Larger ViewWise deployments benefit from the newly expanded document storage methodology. ViewWise 5.6 introduces Distributed Storage Storing data in multiple computers or in computers that are geographically dispersed. This was an early term for storage that evolved into SANs and storage virtualization. See SAN and storage virtualization.  Servers as well as distributed document transfer security.

--Wider Platform Support - In addition to Microsoft Windows See Windows.

--Simpler Management - New GUI-based interfaces simplify managing and monitoring all ViewWise server functions (including the new Document Storage Server and ViewWise Indexer).

Meeting the Needs of Application Integration and 3rd Party Applications

To meet the demands from leading industry integrators requiring flexible and simple application integration, Computhink now provides several new key enhancements:

--"Direct Save" from MS Office and Groupwise with an auto-indexing option for capturing existing and system generated information

--J2EE-based Software Development Kit (SDK) - The ViewWise 5.6 SDK has over 50 published API function calls. The SDK enables ViewWise VARs or end-users to develop integrated solutions with access calls that encompass all aspects of the ViewWise system, all while continuing to maintain the security and data integrity mandated by the ViewWise security schema.

--Automated Input Processor - The latest version of the AIP AIP acute intermittent porphyria.
AIP Acute intermittent porphyria
enables the auto-filing and indexing of data and associated files from a wide range of external sources. These sources may include 3rd party capture applications from leading companies such as AnyDoc(R) and Readsoft(R).

--Email Archive Service for GWAVA GWAVA Groupwise Anti Virus Agent (R) - New integration options include automated retention of email, which, together with ViewWise, provide extensive search options while ensuring compliance with many regulatory requirements and enabling discovery at the most granular level.

New Collaboration Tools

ViewWise 5.6 provides new collaboration tools which allows for simpler collaboration on project information through the use of folder and document shortcuts See Win Shortcuts. . Additionally, documents stored in different ViewWise locations can be linked together through the use of the document references. Private and public traceable interaction is also now available via the new "comments feature" which enables the use of multiple comments on the document level, which are themselves, full text searchable.

Greater Document Output Flexibility

Essential to document management solutions is the ability to easily share information with users outside of the IDM system.

--Multiple Document and Auto Output - ViewWise 5.6 adds to its existing output functionality by providing enhanced multiple document and auto print, email, fax and export.

--Email Attachment Consolidation - to complement our ability to compress outbound documents, ViewWise now provides the ability to combine single page tiff or DjVu files into their respective multi-page formats and or compile them into PDF files.

--Enhanced Check In/Out - ViewWise now provides an XML-based mini-viewer to work off line or provide CD/DVD publishing.

ViewWise 5.6 now supports the latest security models and database releases, including ADS, NDS/eDirectory, MS SQL See Microsoft SQL Server and mSQL.  2000, and Oracle 9i.

Upcoming new Modules & Support

The product line will be complimented within the next 30 days with a new SignWise module and support for Lotus Notes Messaging and groupware software from IBM Lotus that was introduced in 1989 for OS/2 and later expanded to Windows, Mac, Unix, NetWare, AS/400 and S/390. Notes provides e-mail, document sharing, workflow, group discussions and calendaring and scheduling. .
