Computers given to schools in post-Katrina rebuilding.

The goal of this collaborative effort is to assist 12 schools in the affected area. With the assistance of SADA Systems, CompuTech for Humanity and the Friends and Helpers Foundation, the schools closed by Hurricane Katrina will be one step closer to opening their doors.

Automotive Tech Grant

A grant of $344,000 has been awarded to the College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. "The work of automotive technicians and mechanics has evolved from mechanical repair to a high technology job", said Audrey Green, dean of new programs and vocational training at College of the Canyons. The college feels the automotive technology program is badly needed due to a shortage of highly qualified automotive technicians.

Scholarship Awards

Congressman Howard Berman of the 28th District of California and Ruben Beltran of the consulado general de Mexico were special guests in attendance to offer their support of the education celebration.
