Computer-controlled rewind-slitter.Parkinson Machinery and Manufacturing Corp., Esmond RI is now in its second century of providing equipment for the textile, plastic, nonwovens, and paper industries. Parkinson manufactures a great variety of unwind and rewind re·wind tr.v. re·wound , re·wind·ing, re·winds 1. To wind again or anew. 2. A prime example of Parkinson's ability to satisfy a customer's requirements is a computer controlled rewind-slitting system recently completed for a large nonwovens manufacturer. This system will multi slit and rewind 140[inches] wide spunbound nonwovens from .04 O.S.Y at speeds as high as 2500 F.P.M. As many as twenty eight (28) shear slitting knives can be employed to produce multiple, individual rolls up to 51[inches] in diameter without stopping. The rewind slitter consists of a belt driven unwind stand that is provided with a multiple roll storage and feed platform, sonic web splicing splicing /splic·ing/ (spli´sing) 1. the attachment of individual DNA molecules to each other, as in the production of chimeric genes. 2. A capstan capstan Mechanical device used chiefly on board ships or in shipyards for moving heavy weights by means of ropes, cables, or chains. A capstan consists of a drum, driven either manually or by steam or electricity, that rotates about a vertical axis to wind in a line wrapped type driven pull roll isolates the unwind tension from the slitting and winding tension. The tension between the pull roll and the slitter rewind is controlled by load cells. The slittting section is a shear slitter with knives positioned automatically from a computer based on preselected menus of operating data. In addition to the primary slitting station a second manually adjusted station is provided as back up. The slit and trimmed product is wound on a Parkinson Mark IV2SMWT SMWT Self-Managed Work Team SMWT Six Minute Walk Test automatic surface winder. The multiple slit webs are wound on a expanding air shaft Air´ shaft` 1. A passage, usually vertical, for admitting fresh air into a mine or a tunnel. The winder includes a shaft storage magazine that allows the use of six (6) shafts and core assemblies that are inserted as required by the automatic sequence. A complete roll and shaft handling unit removes the finished rolls, removes the air shafts, recores the air shafts and places the recored shaft in the shaft storage magazine ready for use. Fully digital D.C. drives, programmable computer controlled process and statistical and quality packages are included. |
