Computer bug shuts Tesco tills.


A COMPUTER glitch A temporary or random hardware malfunction. It is possible that a bug in a program may cause the hardware to appear as if it had a glitch in it and vice versa. An overnight computer update caused glitches at the main checkouts in a "minority" of stores across the UK, a spokeswoman for the company said.

"We had an IT upgrade overnight which knocked out the cashier-operated tills at a tiny number of our stores.

"Our IT people are currently working very hard to rectify the problem." Tesco said the spread of the bug appeared to be "random".
