CSCI adopted the Jungle Warfare Training Center (JWTC JWTC Jungle Warfare Training Center ), a remote training facility in Okinawa, Japan, as the first of many bases that will receive this unique communication tool. Through this newly created, secure communications site, each JWTC Marine will be able to 'chat' with five friends and family members.

CSCI and the USO will host an informational session and kick-off party November 18, 2004, at CSCI's headquarters in Springfield, VA. Edward A. Powell, Jr., USO president and chief executive officer, will speak at this event. In addition, the CSCI team will demonstrate how the interactive site will operate. USO personnel from the Pacific region, as well as military personnel and congressional leaders, have been invited to attend and show their support for SemperComm.

"This is an exciting day for the USO," said Edward A. Powell. "Not only has CSCI developed a program specifically for remote bases, it also has constructed a tool that enables service members to stay in touch with friends and family. The USO is very grateful for CSCI's partnership."

SemperComm will continue to evaluate other remote military installations lacking basic communications and entertainment tools, and work to bring these resources to these bases in order to Make It Happen!
