Computer Power awarded patent on Astralite LED retrofit.

HIGH BRIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 1995--Computer Power Inc. (CPI) has announced that it has received full patent approval from the U.S. Government Patent Office for the company's solid-state exit sign retrofit technology.

This patented product, based on an array of super-bright Light Emitting Diodes (LED), replaces the conventional incandescent or fluorescent lamps found in the over 150 million exit signs in use today. Sold under the Astralite brand name, this product reduces energy consumption of a conventional fixture by 96% and completely eliminates the need for periodic lamp replacement. Maintenance and energy costs are virtually eliminated.

The Astralite 2000 LED retrofit kit, since its introduction in April 1993, continues to experience growing market acceptance, as it increasingly receives the attention of the EPA, Department of Defense, Power Utilities, and other state and local government agencies as a cost effective means of reducing energy costs. The product also continues to gain trade media attention including being named Plant Engineering's Product of the Year.

CPI, in order to meet current and anticipated demand, has also announced that it has expanded its manufacturing operation through a joint venture with RMC Inc. This new manufacturing facility will double current manufacturing capacity.
