Computer City offers free Norton virus scan software.


FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 1995--Computer City(R), North America's pre-eminent computer superstore retailer, announced a solution for customers concerned about the possible system problems that can be generated by viruses.

While Windows 95 contains no viruses, many viruses can lie dormant Verb 1. lie dormant - be inactive, as if asleep; "His work lay dormant for many years"  in a system until Windows 95 is installed. Once the virus is awakened the customer is faced with system failures, many times beyond the ability of the software to recover. Some can also damage the original Windows 95 diskettes.

As a service to customers, Computer City is offering a free diskette The official name for the floppy disk. See floppy disk.

If a virus is found, customers can use a variety of programs to eliminate the problem.
