Computer City has initiated a strategy to enhance its position in the computer marketplace. Intense focus on programs that are designed to increase the service level to customers include: -0-
a) Product Availability - To insure the customer always has their
product needs met, a program to increase the in-stock percentage of
the top-selling SKUs has been initiated. The assortments are being
narrowed and depth increased in fast moving products. A significant
improvement of availability of our Top 250 items has already
occurred.
b) Commissioned Sales - To insure the customer gets excellent attention
from our sales force, a commissioned sales program was introduced
in January.
c) 110 Percent Price Guarantee - To insure the customer "knows" that
they are always getting the lowest price, a 110 percent Price
Guarantee was rolled out in March.
d) Timely Distribution of End Equipment - To insure that advertised and
fast moving CPUs are distributed based on the latest store
inventory information, a new cross-docking facility in Fort Worth
initiated operation in March to permit last minute determination of
distribution to stores.
e) Corporate Sales - To enhance service to our business and education
customers, improved turnaround times for price and availability,
order processing, order tracking and delivery are being implemented.-0-
