Computer Associates to Deliver Unicenter TNG With Complete Management for Intel's New Pentium III Processor.

Facilitate Enterprise Software Support For

Processor Serial Number Feature

Computer Associates(R) International, Inc. (CA) today announced it has worked with Intel to make available a Unicenter TNG-based toolkit that will enable third-party developers and corporate customers to take full advantage of the new Intel Pentium(R) III-based Processor Serial Number (PSN).

Unicenter TNG and its Framework take advantage of the toolkit to offer a new level of security and manageability to Internet and intranet applications by leveraging the processor serial number feature. Unicenter TNG also enhances availability of multi-processor systems since the processor serial number feature enables the immediate identification of IT resource characteristics - such as a particular processor board in a multi-processor environment.

To facilitate more developers taking advantage of the processor serial number feature, CA and Intel will make the Unicenter TNG-based PS# toolkit available through both companies' Web sites free of charge. This will enable third-party developers and corporate customers to take advantage of the benefit this feature has to offer. Developers will be able to distribute the binary code of the toolkit with their Unicenter TNG applications.

The interface helps streamline and simplify the implementation of the new feature of the Pentium III processor across the enterprise. By integrating processor serial number's "identities," the interface will enhance a wide range of critical management functions including asset tracking, configuration control, tech support and automated network policy implementations.
