(CA) announced that Unicenter TNG has been selected by Compaq Computer Corporation to manage the end-to-end computing environment at this week's International Tandem User Summit in San Jose, California. Unicenter TNG will manage the show's entire "virtual enterprise," which includes an extensive intranet, a network of NonStop Himalaya servers, and a myriad of NT-based servers. The network will be used by exhibitors to showcase a wide range of products developed specifically for Tandem NonStop environments.

CA also announced that a new version of Unicenter TNG has been specifically engineered for Tandem's acclaimed NonStop Himalaya systems, which use the NonStop Kernel (NSK) operating system, making it the only logical choice for managing the sophisticated resource on the show floor. Attendees will be able to see how the unique combination of Unicenter TNG 2.2 and Tandem NSK offers unmatched fault tolerance and availability - a growing requirement in a market where every second of downtime carries a larger and larger price tag.

In addition to managing NSK-based systems at the event, Unicenter TNG will manage all other resources on the network - enabling the entire environment to be managed as a single virtual enterprise. Included in this state-of-the-art demonstration will be CA's new storage management option for NonStop SQL, as well as management of all Himalaya, Alpha and Proliant servers running Windows NT.
