Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today unveiled MasterIT, a uniquely powerful standalone tool for monitoring and managing Internet, intranet and extranet services.

Based on CA's industry-leading Unicenter TNG technology, MasterIT provides the complete set of tools necessary to help ensure the reliability and performance of specific Web services, FTP servers and other Internet technology resources that are becoming increasingly critical to customers' business operations.

MasterIT includes real-time and historical metrics necessary for maintaining business-critical Internet operations, including:

-- Complete Real-time Web Server Monitoring --MasterIT monitors a

wide range of system parameters to ensure the proper functioning

of Web servers. It monitors CPU usage, Web "hits," traffic load,

disk space utilization, status of services, and over 80 other

different server- and URL-specific parameters. It also supports

unattended operations with a variety of capabilities including

the ability to automatically restart individual Web or FTP 

services, as well as rebooting the server itself as required. -- End-to-End Web Response Time Measurement --MasterIT simulates an

end user browsing a site as well as other common activities such

as downloading information or conducting transactions. MasterIT

actually retrieves URLs and copies files to accurately determine

round-trip response times and general availability. Errors such

as broken links (missing content) or unauthorized changes to Web

pages are also detected and tracked. Hundreds, and even

thousands, of URLs can be monitored simultaneously. -- Web Traffic Analysis and Reporting-- MasterIT generates valuable

reports that identify usage trends of any Web site. Users can

choose from standardized reports, with information such as when

and how a site was accessed, or create custom reports pages. By

providing both the end-user and server perspectives on Web site

performance - and simultaneously monitoring specific URLs and/or

services - MasterIT gives Webmasters unmatched insight into the

effectiveness of site provisioning.

MasterIT generates events and alarms based on user-defined thresholds. These events can be sent to Webmaster and/or enterprise management consoles. Based on flexible filtering and correlation policies, events can also trigger notification to other key personnel, initiation of help desk tickets, or automated corrective actions.
