) announced today that Computer Associates International Inc. (CA) has signed a multi-year world-wide agreement to license CST's GUISys/400, a software development tool which automatically migrates AS/400 applications to a client/server graphical Windows environment (1) (upper case "W") Refers to computers running under a Microsoft Windows operating system.

(2) (lower case "w") Also called a "windowing environment," it refers to any software that provides multiple windows on screen such as Windows, Mac, Motif and X Window.

CA-PRMS will be the first CA application to be migrated to a client/server graphical Windows environment. Plans are to release beta software Noun 1. beta software - software that has not yet been released but has received an alpha test and still has more bugs than a regular release; "beta software is usually available only to particular users who will test it"  of the new graphical components of CA-PRMS in June.
