Carbon County Commissioners have approved the private labeling of a discount prescription benefit card, provided by Comprehensive, to their county's approximately 60,000+ residents. In a September 6th article published in the Morning Call daily newspaper, Carbon County Commission Chairman William O'Gurek acknowledged receiving favorable fa·vor·a·ble adj. 1. Advantageous; helpful: favorable winds. 2. Encouraging; propitious: a favorable diagnosis. 3. feedback from the Luzerne County Commissioners after contacting them to discuss Comprehensive's program currently being used in Luzerne County. Commissioner O'Gurek noted that since Comprehensive's program is offered at no cost to the county, and allows residents using the card to save from 10 to 40% off their drug costs, the county owes it to its residents to start the program. Another factor in Carbon County's decision to utilize Comprehensive's discount prescription card was its acceptance at more pharmacies then other competitor's cards that had originally been considered by Luzerne County. As an added benefit the contract calls for Carbon County to receive 10 cents per prescription on approximately 85% of Rx's filled by its residents using Comprehensive's card. This new contract with Carbon County, along with the two previously signed municipalities of Luzerne and Lehigh Counties means that Comprehensive will have well over 660,000 of its discount Rx cards in the hands of the residents of these three counties.
