Comprehensive Internet/Intranet server management finally a reality; InCharge automates complex configuration and problem management with simple fill-in-the-blank Web forms.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb.20, 1996--System Management ARTS, Inc. (SMARTS(TM)) today announced the immediate availability of InCharge For The Internet(TM) software.

InCharge(TM) automates the installation, configuration, and day-to-day management of Internet and Intranet services and the servers on which they run. A comprehensive system management solution, InCharge supports DNS (Domain Name System) A system for converting host names and domain names into IP addresses on the Internet or on local networks that use the TCP/IP protocol. For example, when a Web site address is given to the DNS either by typing a URL in a browser or behind the , Web, E-mail, FTP FTP

InCharge masks complicated management functions with intuitive, graphical forms that prompt users for entries in plain English Plain English (sometimes known, more broadly, as plain language) is a communication style that focuses on considering the audience's needs when writing. It recommends avoiding unnecessary words and avoiding jargon, technical terms, and long and ambiguous sentences. . More than just a pretty face, InCharge has embedded intelligence. Automatically validating configuration changes, it applies them as recoverable transactions. InCharge constantly monitors the system and services to detect problems and correct them according to according to

SMARTS President Dr. Shaula Alexander Yemini stated that "Our software prevents configuration errors, the most common cause of problems. It makes it easy to manage the complete range of Internet and Intranet services. And InCharge's automated problem management capabilities eliminate the need for administrators to remain glued to their pagers, giving them back their evenings and weekends."

"Administrators who are new to the Internet will be able to manage their sites with ease and confidence," stated Brian Wade, SMARTS Sales and Marketing Director. "For example, adding a News feed without InCharge is a complex, error-prone, 10-step process. InCharge accomplishes the task reliably and quickly with three clicks in a single form.

"InCharge presents a price/functionality combination that cannot be ignored," added Wade. "It will annually save its users many times its purchase price."

InCharge requires a Sparc workstation or a 486 or Pentium PC running Solaris with 32 Megabytes of RAM and 500 Megabytes of disk space (1 Gigabyte or more is recommended). Training is not required.

InCharge For The Internet is priced at $6,500 per server and includes documentation and a 90 day warranty. Quantity discounts are offered. Software maintenance contracts are available.
