S. HOWES CO.
Horizontal ribbon mixers in 5 to 220 cu ft capacities with a variety of ribbon configurations, and vertical mixers from 12 to 1500 cu ft in mild and stainless steel.
Horizontal ribbon mixer has relatively gentle mixing action, utilizes outer and inner ribbon folding-action arrangement on a common shaft. Outer ribbon transports product one way, while inner ribbon reverses flow pattern. Mixers are used to blend pellets, powdered resins, pigments, and reclaim. Liquid-spray nozzles and heating/cooling jackets can be used when plasticizers are added to a dry mix.
Vertical mixers for compounding and pellet mixing utilize low-intensity mixing action and have a central vertical screw that transports product from the lower portion of the mixer cone up through the product mass and discharges at the top. Mixer uses centrifugal force, flingers on the screw-conveyor outlet, and internal baffles for mixing.
Supplies static-mixer components that are inserted in injection nozzles.

RWIMB series ratio-weigh blenders feature weighed virgin and regrind metering/conveying. When a preset weighed batch is dumped into the mixer, correct amount of additives is precisely metered at the same time. The 400RWIMB, used with 6150RW microprocessor control and RS485 serial port for communications, provides a menu-driven format.
Company's 400 series accumulative weigh blenders have menu-driven computer controls. Several of these units can interface with each other for total plant inventory control. The 402B hatching loss-in-weight blender is available with powder feeders.
Patent-pending 470 Ulti-Meter eliminates any need for mixers--materials are weight-loss metered continuously at the same rate as the extruder consumes them. Design provides "first-in/first-out" (FIFO) feeding to the extruder and eliminates segregation of virgin pellets and additives. Controls are designed to allow color changes on-the-fly by initiating 100% virgin feed while hoppers and auger assemblies are changed over to another material. Unit can then switch over to the new recipe without halting production. Because material in residence is very small, color change is effected within minutes. Microprocessor controls auger speeds to within 1 rpm of setpoint. Hand-held remote-control key-pad can be located conveniently by the operator station.

MATCON USA INC.
Matcon-Buls tumble blender gives homogeneous blend of materials with no degradation of product and provides a degree of dispersion acceptable even by pharmaceutical standards. Blender accommodates Matcon-Buls Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), in which product can be transported, blended and subsequently stored. It consists of an electrically powered cage into which the filled container is loaded. It then revolves on an eccentric axis between two supporting pedestals at a predetermined speed for the required blend time. Offset axis of rotation causes a complex pattern of particle movement within the container. Because resulting action is a gentle, tumbling one, degradation of product is avoided.
Batches can be blended in 2 to 20 min, depending on nature of the material and degree of dispersion required. Because Matcon container system discharges material on a "mass flow" (first-in-first out) basis, there is no separation of product after mixing or during the discharge operation. This guarantees that homogeneous blend of product is retained during storage and throughout the discharge process until the container is empty. Blenders are ruggedly built to ensure safety and can be made fully automatic under the control of a PLC. Available in a range of sizes and can be supplied in mild-steel or stainless construction.
