. On April 29, there's the premiere of Isis and the Seven Scorpions, his new opera for young people commissioned by the Canadian Opera Company The Canadian Opera Company (COC), located in Toronto, Ontario, is the largest opera company in Canada and the sixth largest in North America.

It was established in 1950 as the Royal Conservatory Opera Company, by Nicholas Goldschmidt and the late Herman Geiger-Torel.

The piece will be touring throughout May, and presented publicly on June 24 in the rehearsal hall of the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts as part of the gala opening celebrations for the new opera house (as such, it will be the first full opera staged in the new house). On May 6, The Vinland Traveler premieres in St. John's, NL, presented by the Memorial University School of Music's Opera Roadshow. It then tours throughout the province and Labrador. Also in May, Saskatoon Saskatoon (săskətn`), city (1991 pop. 186,058), S central Sask., Canada, on the South Saskatchewan River.  Opera Association is touring another production (the seventh) of The Brothers Grimm. By the end of this tour, Burry's opera will have logged 214 performances. Finally, the composer has been commissioned to write the music for Children of the Moon, a libretto libretto (ləbrĕt`ō) [Ital.,=little book], the text of an opera or an oratorio. Although a play usually emphasizes an integrated plot, a libretto is most often a loose plot connecting a series of episodes.  written by Robertson Davies in 1983, though never set to music. The commission is from the University of Toronto's Massey College, of which Davies was Master for some years before his death, and Pendragon Ink, which manages his literary estate.
