with footing in the network market, Compex, Inc. makes another contribution with a switch series that supports connections for Fast and Gigabit Ethernet. Built with the enterprise LAN in mind, Compex's SGX3224 Managed Switched Series offers switching features that are needed in the corporate and enterprise market. The SGX3224 Plus model has the ability to extend to a Gigabit backbone.

With 24 segments and 10/100Mbps auto-sensing ports, these dual-speed switches are employable and manageable in areas of data traffic where network regulation and segmentation are needed to smooth network traffic. The switch series' 12K MAC address table and 4.8Gbps bandwidth support the series' switching solution to the enterprise that requires a larger bandwidth. A Web management application is built-in with the switch to provide management of the switch through any Web browsers, like Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. By exploiting advances in components for embedded intelligence, the series, with Web Management, are fractionally higher priced than unmanaged switches.

The switch also comes equipped with built-in VLAN (Virtual LAN) support, offering grouping of ports. This feature provides security in the isolation of the network traffic and suppresses broadcast storms by keeping data packets within their logical port groups and limiting the transmission of data to ports. The SGX3224 and SGX3224 Plus are priced at $2,299 and $2,799, respectively, and are available immediately through Compex's network of distributors, value-added resellers, and system integrators in Asia, the United States, and Europe.
