Competitive edge to walks.


THE Rotary Rotary can refer to:
  • Rotary engine, a type of internal combustion engine from the early 20th century
  • Rotary Woofer, a type of loudspeaker capable of very low frequency sound
  • Rotary International, a service organization
  • Rotary milking shed
 Club of Redcar has introduced a competitive element into its sponsored walks this year.

The club's 21st annual sponsored walks will take place near Captain Cook''s Monument, Great Ayton Coordinates:

Great Ayton is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire on the edge of the North York Moors in England. The name Great Ayton is thought to derive from Ea-tun, tun meaning farm and 'ea' meaning river.
, on Sunday, September 13.

And both walks will offer the chance to have a competition between groups to see who does the walk in the fastest time or who raises the most sponsorship.

Organiser Peter Gleghorn, of Marske, said they were working with local groups to set up the competitions.

1. To propose by name as a candidate, especially for election.

2. To designate or appoint to an office, responsibility, or honor.
 a charity, Cleveland Search and Rescue.

There will be two walks - a family walk of six-and-a-half miles and a long walk of 10 miles. Both start and finish at the Gribdale Gate car park, just below the Captain Cook Monument.
